CANCER TREATMENT
I have completed my radiation treatments. The follow-up tests indicate they got the cancer in time, but it will have to be monitored from now on. I had another scare with a spot in my lung that showed up testing. After biopsies, CAT scans, PET and other tests they pronounced it benign. I am still suffering breathing difficulties, depression and fatigue. But hope remains, and I am planning great new adventures.
WEDDING BELLS RANG
Elaine and I had our wedding on June 28 at The Wedding Chapel in Claremore, Oklahoma. Ours was a simple ceremony followed by a barbeque and potluck reception on our deck. Everyone had a great time and there was lots of laughter, especially when our scared cat jumped onto the counter and landed in the baked beans.
JULY HONEYMOON
Our honeymoon included a trip to the California Redwoods for our family reunion. Then to Oregon to visit Elaine's brother. We returned home via Yellowstone, Devil's Tower and the Black Hills. It was an enjoyable trip, but we were a bit put off by the price of gasoline. The highest was $4.79 in northern California. We now wish we had set up a wedding registry at Shell and Exxon.JULY 4TH
We had another great Fourth of July celebration with the neighbors; good food, good fun, good conversation. We heartily recommend that you get to know and appreciate your neighbors. Our's is a small community of friends who know and enjoy each other. Thanks again to all who have made our lives so nice.
THANKSGIVING
We took a trip in November to spend Thanksgiving with family in California. We had a great time with all in Sonoma, Gelen Ellen, Discovery Bay, Visalia and Tulare. We liked California so much that we nearly bought a house in Tulare; only nasty tax ramifications made us change our minds. I really don't mind Oklahoma; it really feels quite good to wake up every morning in a house I built with my own hands. The only problem is that these regular trips to California are getting to be a drag. It's a long drive for one in his seventies and, with the exception of Flagstaff, there's not much to see between here and there.
